FAQ

Is the L94 the most efficient rifle?
On the three dual-sourced columns it is the most efficient gun, period: the 1.2–2 band otherwise lives only at 40 tiles and weight 4–4.5 (M1A, MSR788, MSR7T), and the 30-tile tier otherwise tops out at 1–1.6. The L94 delivers top-band damage at mid-tier reach and light-tier weight.
What is the catch?
The feed. The L94's magazine is compact — a long way under the JS-14's and a very long way under the M16's box, which means a slower rhythm of sustained fire for the same fight. It is the precision rifle of the 30-tier: fewer, harder shots. Capacity itself is a single-source figure we do not print here.
L94 or M1A?
Same damage band; the M1A adds ten tiles of max range and a bigger feed for a full weight unit (4.5 against 3.5). If the extra reach is real ground you fight on, take the M1A; if you carry on foot through 30-tile country, the L94 gives you the same punch for less pack.

The Trade in One Line

The L94 is the worksheet’s best damage-per-weight story: the 1.2–2 top band at 3.5 — nothing on the gun sheet hits harder per kilo — behind a 30-tile max range. Its concession is the feed: a compact magazine that trades volume of fire for the privilege of every shot meaning more. It is the marksman’s rung of the long-gun ladder.

What the Numbers Mean in Play Cross-Verified

  • Damage 1.2 – 2. The rifle ceiling, shared with the M1A and the hunting tier — only the shotguns’ 2.2 tops it, and they need you inside 12–15 tiles to find out (shotgun).
  • Max range 30 tiles. Mid-tier: double the shotguns, ten short of the longest column. A ceiling, not an envelope — the firearms guide covers what connects. At this band, most shots inside thirty end the argument.
  • Weight 3.5. Tied with the JS-14 as the lightest stocked rifle; the punch-per-kilo line is why this page calls it the efficiency pick. Only carbines and handguns carry less.
  • Condition 10. Set-wide standard — no rifle exception. Maintenance governs wear (skill leveling guide).
  • Report. A full-power crack; a rifle you fire in town is a rifle that owns the town’s response, whether the plan was Louisville sweeps or the high-risk POIs.
  • Feed. A compact magazine — a long way under the JS-14’s and a very long way under the M16’s box — that rewards placement and punishes spray. It is the one column the L94’s excellence pays for.

When Not to Use It

  • When the fight is a volume problem. Groups past the fence want the M16’s appetite or the JS-14’s mid-size feed, not a marksman’s magazine.
  • When you have grams to spend on reach. Pay the full unit to the M1A Rifle: same band, 40 tiles, bigger feed.
  • When you cannot place shots. High damage behind a small feed is a variance trade — the weapon tier list discussion of Aiming skill applies twice here.

How It Compares

30-tier rifle Damage Weight Max range Condition
L94 Rifle 1.2 – 2 3.5 30 10
JS-14 Rifle 1 – 1.6 3.5 30 10
M16 Assault Rifle 1 – 1.6 4 30 10
MSR700 Rifle 1 – 1.6 4 30 10

Against every other 30-tile gun the L94 holds the same or better damage at the same or lower weight, and concedes only the feed. That is a real trade, not a footnote: it is the difference between a gun that ends fights shot by shot and one that ends them magazine by magazine. Choose by how many targets you expect to face before your next reload.

Sources & Verification

Every printed figure on this page is agreed by two independent sources we can read today, matched by the in-game item ID Base.L94_Rifle:

Source Type Notes
PZwiki — L94 Rifle Semi-official wiki (declared an official site of The Indie Stone, volunteer-maintained) Infobox fields read via its MediaWiki API
pzfans — Weapon item tables Community data, stamped “Verified for Build 42.20.4” Independent rendering of the same weight, damage and max-range fields

What this is not. Neither source is our own measurement — nobody fired this gun in a test sandbox for this page. The noise value and the magazine capacity exist only on the PZwiki side (pzfans has no comparable column), so they are described qualitatively above and never printed as numbers. Spawn locations are omitted for the same one-source reason. PZwiki stamps this page against a 42.15-era build — one of the older stamps in the set — so treat this as 42.20-era agreement rather than 42.21-verified, and expect a patch note to move these numbers eventually.
