L92 Carbine in Build 42 — Damage, Weight, Range and Verdict
Build 42 L92 Carbine stats: 1–1.6 damage, max range 24 tiles, weight 3.5, condition 10. The middle-distance rifle — honest reach between carbine and tier one.

The Trade in One Line
The L92 is the middle rung of the long-gun ladder: 1–1.6 damage at a 24-tile max, weight 3.5, condition 10 — more reach than the Trapper, less than the 30-tier, and the same punch as either. Its place in the worksheet is honest and slightly uncomfortable: it is outdone on paper by the JS-14 at identical weight, and its virtue is being a real rifle at carbine grams when the real rifles are elsewhere.
What the Numbers Mean in Play Cross-Verified
- Damage 1 – 1.6. The mid-band — identical to the M16, the JS-14 and the handguns’ top pair. Enough to end most single engagements at range, short of the 1.2 – 2 marksman tier.
- Max range 24 tiles. The odd column: four past the Trapper Carbine, six under the stocked rifles — comfortably double any shotgun, and a ceiling rather than an envelope (firearms guide).
- Weight 3.5. True carbine weight — tied with the L94 and JS-14 as the lightest stocked-rifle number, only handguns, the trapper and the sawed-offs carry less.
- Condition 10. Set-wide; the short barrel buys no durability. Maintenance gates wear (skill leveling guide).
- Report. Carbine-length, rifle-noise: the honest reading is that it is quieter than the full-power rifles’ crack and nowhere near quiet — a gun for the edge of town, not for the middle of Louisville.
- Feed. A mid-size magazine — bigger than the Trapper’s clip, well short of the assault tier’s box. The reload rhythm sits exactly where the carbine class says it should.
When Not to Use It
- When the JS-14 is an option. Same damage and weight, six extra tiles — take JS-14 Rifle without ceremony.
- When you want the quiet-ish rung. The Trapper trades reach and the top of this damage band for a smaller report and lighter grams (Trapper Carbine).
- When the range is the whole point. 24 is a fine number until something needs 40: the MSR788 Rifle tier exists for that one shot across the reservoir.
How It Compares
| Long gun | Damage | Weight | Max range | Condition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| L92 Carbine | 1 – 1.6 | 3.5 | 24 | 10 |
| Trapper Carbine | 1 – 1.4 | 3.2 | 20 | 10 |
| JS-14 Rifle | 1 – 1.6 | 3.5 | 30 | 10 |
| M16 Assault Rifle | 1 – 1.6 | 4 | 30 | 10 |
Read the column that matters: at the L92’s weight the JS-14 buys six more tiles and at its damage band the M16 buys the deepest feed — the carbine’s virtue is those four tiles over the Trapper at almost the same grams. It is a coherent weapon; it is just not, on these numbers, the best coherent weapon. Ranking across the set: weapon tier list.
Sources & Verification
Every printed figure on this page is agreed by two independent sources we can read today, matched by the in-game item ID Base.L92_Carbine:
| Source | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PZwiki — L92 Carbine | Semi-official wiki (declared an official site of The Indie Stone, volunteer-maintained) | Infobox fields read via its MediaWiki API |
| pzfans — Weapon item tables | Community data, stamped “Verified for Build 42.20.4” | Independent rendering of the same weight, damage and max-range fields |
What this is not. Neither source is our own measurement — nobody fired this gun in a test sandbox for this page. The noise value and the magazine capacity exist only on the PZwiki side (pzfans has no comparable column), so they are described qualitatively above and never printed as numbers. Spawn locations are omitted for the same one-source reason. PZwiki stamps most firearm pages against builds older than 42.21, so treat this as 42.20-era agreement rather than 42.21-verified, and expect a patch note to move these numbers eventually.
