FAQ

What does the MSR7T have that the MSR788 lacks?
Not anything the dual-sourced columns can show. Damage (1.2–2), max range (40 tiles) and condition 10 are identical, the feeds sit in the same slim class, and the 7T costs half a weight unit more at 4.5. The tactical trim buys nothing on the two tables we compare; on verifiable numbers the MSR788 is simply the better purchase.
Is the 40-tile damage tier worth weight 4.5?
It is the worksheet's heaviest carry class — three guns share the 4.5 figure: the JS-3T shotgun, the M1A and this. Against the M1A the 7T ties on every column including the slim feed while the M1A brings a magazine; against the MSR788 it loses the weight argument outright. The 40-tier is excellent; this seat in it is the priced one.
Who should actually carry the MSR7T?
The survivor who found it and nothing else in the club. Its numbers are the best the long column offers — top band, maximum reach — and any of them beat every shotgun within twelve tiles or lighter rifle within thirty. Preference is a loot reality; make-do doctrine is in the firearms guide.

The Trade in One Line

The MSR7T is the complete long-gun numbers package wearing the most expensive price tag: 1.2–2 damage, a 40-tile max, condition 10 — every dual-sourced combat figure identical to the MSR788, plus half a weight unit at 4.5 for the tactical name. Nobody can point at a printed column where the 7T wins. The job of this page is to say that plainly.

What the Numbers Mean in Play Cross-Verified

  • Damage 1.2 – 2. The rifle ceiling, shared with the M1A and the MSR788 — only the shotguns’ 2.2 tops it, at a quarter of the reach (shotgun).
  • Max range 40 tiles. The worksheet’s longest column — more than three times the pump shotgun. A ceiling rather than an envelope; the firearms guide covers what actually connects at that distance.
  • Weight 4.5. The joint-heaviest number in the gun set, with the JS-3T and the M1A. The difference is that the JS-3T pays it for a bigger feed and the M1A for a magazine — the 7T pays it against the MSR788’s identical stats.
  • Condition 10. Uniform, as always; wear is Maintenance-gated (skill leveling guide).
  • Report. Heavy and far-carrying rifle thunder — the same conversation the hunting tier starts, fired from a stock that makes it no quieter for being called tactical. Shooting it through Louisville is declaring an operation, not taking a shot; the high-risk POIs page applies in full.
  • Feed. The slim magazine class — deliberate shots, exposed reloads, the same ticket the MSR788 holds. Nothing in the tactical trim changes the rhythm.

When Not to Use It

  • When the MSR788 is the alternative. Identical damage, reach, condition and feed class at weight 4 — the half unit is a tax on the word ‘tactical’ as far as two sourced tables can see (MSR788 Rifle).
  • When a box magazine is affordable. The M1A carries the same combat numbers at the same 4.5 with a proper feed — see M1A Rifle; this is the row the 7T loses hardest.
  • On light runs. 40-tile reach you will not use is 4.5 units of weight you will. The JS-14 at 3.5 keeps the mid-band and loses both extremes.

How It Compares

40-tier rifle Damage Weight Max range Condition
MSR7T Tactical Rifle 1.2 – 2 4.5 40 10
MSR788 Rifle 1.2 – 2 4 40 10
M1A Rifle 1.2 – 2 4.5 40 10

The club table is the entire review: three guns, one damage band, one reach column — and the 7T’s two companions each own a reason to stand next to it. The MSR788 owns weight; the M1A owns the feed at the same price. The MSR7T owns being the gun you keep when the others were not in the house — a real role, just not a printed advantage. Overall standing of the tier: weapon tier list.

Sources & Verification

Every printed figure on this page is agreed by two independent sources we can read today, matched by the in-game item ID Base.MSR7T_Rifle:

Source Type Notes
PZwiki — MSR7T Tactical Rifle Semi-official wiki (declared an official site of The Indie Stone, volunteer-maintained) Infobox fields read via its MediaWiki API
pzfans — Weapon item tables Community data, stamped “Verified for Build 42.20.4” Independent rendering of the same weight, damage and max-range fields

What this is not. Neither source is our own measurement — nobody fired this gun in a test sandbox for this page. The noise value and the magazine capacity exist only on the PZwiki side (pzfans has no comparable column), so they are described qualitatively above and never printed as numbers. Spawn locations are omitted for the same one-source reason. PZwiki stamps most firearm pages against builds older than 42.21, so treat this as 42.20-era agreement rather than 42.21-verified, and expect a patch note to move these numbers eventually.
