JS-3T Tactical Shotgun in Build 42 — Damage, Weight, Range and Verdict
Build 42 JS-3T stats: 1.5–2.2 damage, max range 12 tiles, weight 4.5, condition 10. The worksheet's top damage ceiling with the biggest shotgun feed.
FAQ
Is the JS-3T just a better shotgun?
What does 12 tiles of max range mean for a tactical shotgun?
Should I take it over a rifle?
The Trade in One Line
The JS-3T is the base Shotgun asked to carry more: identical 1.5–2.2 damage and 12-tile ceiling, a half-unit of weight extra at 4.5, and in exchange the longest tube feed the shotgun family gets. Everything the worksheet says about shotguns — highest ceiling in the set, short reach, very loud, condition 10 — applies here too; the tactical label changes only how often you are reloading while doing it.
What the Numbers Mean in Play Cross-Verified
- Damage 1.5 – 2.2. The worksheet’s top ceiling, shared with the Shotgun and Double Barrel — nothing else on the gun sheet touches 2.2, rifles included.
- Max range 12 tiles. Identical to the base gun: the tactical trim bought a feed, not a barrel (firearms guide). This stays a door-and-yard gun.
- Weight 4.5. The heaviest shotgun on the sheet and, tied with the M1A and MSR7T, the heaviest carry anywhere in the gun set. This is a main arm or nothing — the dedicated-weapon conversation in full (weapon tier list).
- Condition 10. Family standard; the most durable shotgun is the baseball bat’s entire philosophy and this is not it. Wear is Maintenance-gated (skill leveling guide).
- Report. Shotgun-loud — the same ear-splitting argument the base gun makes, and the reason sweeps of the high-risk POIs with this thing are planned as sieges with exits.
- Feed. The longest tube of the family: between the pump cycle and the reserve, the JS-3T is the shotgun that lets you keep working a crowd without stopping to reload the way its two-barrel cousin cannot.
When Not to Use It
- When weight decides the loadout. The base Shotgun does everything except the feed at 4 — if the half-unit is the difference between the gun and the loot, take Shotgun.
- In the open. 12 tiles against a rifle’s 30 — M16 Assault Rifle or the 40-tile hunting tier own the field; this owns the last approach to it.
- When you need reach per trigger pull. The Double Barrel pays nothing in damage to buy 15 tiles at the same weight 4 — see Double Barrel Shotgun.
How It Compares
| Shotgun | Damage | Weight | Max range | Condition |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| JS-3T Tactical Shotgun | 1.5 – 2.2 | 4.5 | 12 | 10 |
| Shotgun | 1.5 – 2.2 | 4 | 12 | 10 |
| Double Barrel Shotgun | 1.5 – 2.2 | 4 | 15 | 10 |
| Sawed-off Double Barrel | 1.2 – 1.8 | 3 | 8 | 10 |
The family story in three rows: all full-size shotguns share the worksheet’s top damage ceiling, and they differ only in weight, reach and how often you reload. The JS-3T is the sustained-fire pick, the Double Barrel the reach pick, the base gun the compromise. The sawed-offs are a different animal — lighter, shorter, weaker. Choose among the top three by terrain, not by power.
Sources & Verification
Every printed figure on this page is agreed by two independent sources we can read today, matched by the in-game item ID Base.JS3T_Shotgun:
| Source | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| PZwiki — JS-3T Tactical Shotgun | Semi-official wiki (declared an official site of The Indie Stone, volunteer-maintained) | Infobox fields read via its MediaWiki API |
| pzfans — Weapon item tables | Community data, stamped “Verified for Build 42.20.4” | Independent rendering of the same weight, damage and max-range fields |
What this is not. Neither source is our own measurement — nobody fired this gun in a test sandbox for this page. The noise value and the tube capacity exist only on the PZwiki side (pzfans has no comparable column), so they are described qualitatively above and never printed as numbers. Spawn locations are omitted for the same one-source reason. PZwiki stamps most firearm pages against builds older than 42.21, so treat this as 42.20-era agreement rather than 42.21-verified, and expect a patch note to move these numbers eventually.
