Ekron Base Guide — Build 42's Split Farm Town

Ekron in Build 42: the quiet farm start with strong fields and animal space, a derailed train splitting town, and weak hardware that forces supply runs.

FAQ

Is Ekron good for farming starts in Build 42?
Yes — both guides describe low early zombie pressure, fields and space for pens, which is why it is the husbandry classroom town. The trap is hardware: there is no comfortable big-box loop inside town.
Why does Ekron have a chokepoint problem?
A broken train blocks the main street, leaving one road north that connects the west and east sides. That single connector is simultaneously your loot route and the place a horde can trap you — plan movement around it.
What should I bring to Ekron?
Bring a hammer, saw and junkyard metal, or schedule the run that gets them. Both guides say hardware and bulk seeds are thin in town, so carpentry and farming stall without a planned Brandenburg loop.
Should a whole co-op group spawn Ekron?
One guide warns against it: a four-person farm with one screwdriver is a sitcom. If everyone lives out west, assign one player to own the Brandenburg supply runs.

What Ekron Is Cross-Verified

Ekron is the quiet farm start of Build 42’s three new western towns — fields, farmhouses on the approach roads, and space for pens. Our county hub frames it as the southern of the new towns, while the 42.20 map guides call it the furthest west; both readings put it out in the low-pressure corner of the map.

| | Aspect | What the sources say | |—|—| | Character | Quiet rural start; low early zombie pressure; strong fields and animal space | | Loot focus | Farming and husbandry inputs; wells and rural water options — but thin hardware and bulk seed | | Best for | Farmer and rancher builds; hunting access from the same approach roads | | Watch out for | No comfortable big-box loop in town, so supply stalls without a planned trip elsewhere |

The Split Town Cross-Verified

The feature that shapes movement here is that a broken train blocks the main street, leaving one road north connecting the west and east sides. Both guides treat that connector as the town’s defining constraint: it is your loot route and your chokepoint in the same place. Plan movement around it, keep the vehicle facing out, and treat the split as the reason an Ekron run needs a written exit — the discipline is in the loot routes guide.

What Stays Unverified

Named Ekron POIs — the gun store, the pharmacy chain, the community college, the church — come from one guide’s 42.20 survey, and base candidates such as a penned pig farm sit in a different guide’s ranking plus community video. Both are labelled as leads: confirm the buildings in your own save, since the mapping pass keeps moving interiors and store types.

Where these 18 Ekron markers come from: names and in-game tile coordinates are vendored from PZmap (html/poi.json), MIT License, Copyright (c) 2022 Min Xiang; retrieved 2026-10-01. We add no coordinates of our own.

Read the gaps, not just the dots. This is a community catalogue, not the game's own list, and it is incomplete. Muldraugh is the clearest case: it carries no fire station record at all, even though the town's fire station is a well-documented loot site and base candidate. Absence from this map does not mean absence from the game. Nothing is drawn here that we could not source — and anything you find missing or misnamed is worth reporting, because we will check it against the game rather than guess.
